National Day of Morning for Virginia Tech

My Husband and I had plans to leave for VT today to celebrate our daughters Senior Awards Banquet. Those plans came to a screeching halt on Monday, April 16th, when a senseless tragedy occurred. Our daughter is fine, but the memories of this day will never be forgotten. I would like to thank the millions of people who have sent their thoughts and prayers to VT. I just can't imagine how the families of the students killed will ever recover. Our daughter Tracy, loves VT and considers Blacksburg, VA her home and always will. So if you have anything orange or maroon, please wear it in memory of those who lost their lives. GO HOKIES, WE WILL PREVAIL

I can't wait to tell the girls at work. Thanks Paula for all of your beautiful creations. I'll be waiting by the mailbox for the goodies.

Hoppy Birthday

I have a Birthday open house to go to tomorrow and I was going to stay home and make a card. But, the local craft stores were calling my name, LOL. I thought I could go for a couple of hours and get back home to make a card, wrong! You see, I have every other Friday off were I work, we work 9 hour days and get every other Friday off. Works out great to have a day all to yourself. So anyway, I left the house at 8:00 and didn't get back until 5:00. I went to Michael's, A. C. Moore and a local scrapbooking speciality store. I found a couple of good deals, A. C. Moore had a lot of their punches on clearance, I bought 2. As for Michael's, same old thing, nothing new yet. They have cleared out some of the isles for new things, just haven't stocked the shelves yet. I keep waiting for the new Cuttlebug stuff to show up in the stores, I wish they'd hurry up.

I did find some new stamps at the scrapbooking store. I had never seen them before, there called "See - D's". You put them on clear acrylic blocks, but the stamps are purple rubber, not see thru. They had 20 or so sets and there's 20 - 30 stamps in a set for $7.99, what a deal. So I picked up three sets to try out.

Here's a card I made at a workshop a few weeks ago, Hoppy Birthday. The frog is made with large and small oval punches. I think I might use Mr. Froggy for the birthday card I need for tomorrow. Isn't he cute!
On April 29th, I'm going to a Stamping Festival given by local SU demonstrators in the area. I can hardly wait to see what we will be making. I talked to one of the girls and she said they have 60 people signed up to go to the Festival. We're suppose to make 6 cards and lots of door prizes, used stamp table, card swaps and more. Should be a good time.

OK time to get something done, like dinner, laundry and cleaning, Oh wait this is Friday, I have two more days to get that stuff done, yippee.

Just Chicken In

I hope everyone had a great Easter!! It was very quite at our house this year. My oldest daughter (Tracy) attends college at Virginia Tech and couldn't make it home for Easter this year. Our other daughter (Sara), worked the night before and slept most of the morning away. What happened to those little kids that couldn't wait to see what the Easter Bunny brought??

I thought I would post this cute get well card I made at a card class. All of the cards at this class were done with punches. I just love punches, you can do so many great things.
Recipe:
Card Stock: Real Red, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Only Orange and Close to Cocoa
Ink: Chocolate Chip and Creamy Caramel
Punch: 1 1/4" circle, 3/4" circle, Spring Bouquet Flower punch, small oval and 1/8" punch.
Stamp Set: SU Best of Cluck
The creamy caramel was sponged around the chickens circle to soften the edges. We used to of the daisy flowers punched from the spring bouquet punch, for the feet and the cone on the chickens head. You need to cut a little triangle piece for the beak. The small oval punch was folded in half to give the wing a little deminsion. We made 5 different cards, all from punches. I think you can see how to assemble the card, it's pretty easy after you see the card.
OK, I have to finish cleaning up the dinner dishes, pack lunches and watch a little TV (of course) before it gets to late. I hope everyone has a great Monday!!

My First Posting !!!!

Well, this is my first posting and my first blog. I'm still trying to figure out how everything works.
I have been stamping for a little over a year, it's quite addicting!! I have 7-8 girls at work who also love to stamp, so we decided to do a card swap. The theme was anything SPRINGY. This is the card that I made. I used SU Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue card stock and the designer paper from SAB. The stamps I used are from the Warmest Regards and Happy Harmony sets. The stamps are stamped with Bashful Blue, Regal Rose and Certainly Celery ink. I also used my Cuttlebug, giga and mega oval punches, SU large oval punch and, of course, dazzling diamonds.

Well, tomorrow is Easter and I've been on this PC all day trying to figure out how to setup this blog. I'm still in the beginning stages getting everything to look OK. I should probably get some of my housework done and plan for Easter dinner. If you happen to come across this blog, drop a comment and tell me how it looks so far. Thanks
